In two of those accidents, the at-fault person may be held liable for the personal injury or wrongful death of the accident victim. Trial begins for Haverhill teen accused of texting while driving

On behalf of posted in Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents on Friday June 1, 2012

New studies have shown that texting while driving can be as dangerous as drunk driving. In Massachusetts, a law made texting while driving a criminal offense as of September 30, 2010, if it results in an injury. According to news sources, a Haverhill teenager may be the first person to be convicted of a fatal car accident as a result of texting while driving. His trial began this week. The accident, in which the teenager was involved, occurred on Feb. 20, 2011. According to court testimony, the teenager crossed over the center line and hit another car in a head-on collision. The…

How does wrongful death liability apply to illegal immigrants?

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Friday May 25, 2012

In Massachusetts, we value our rights and responsibilities as citizens. When a wrong is done to us, we expect that somehow it will be made right. For the parents of a man killed in a motorcycle accident, there may be no sense of justice being served. The driver of a pickup truck car which struck the motorcyclist has been charged with motor vehicle homicide, driving while intoxicated, negligent operation, leaving the scene of personal injury and death, failure to stop for police, driving without a license and several other crimes. The man charged with these crimes was reported to be in…

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Sunday May 6, 2012

When one thinks of a pedestrian accident, one might think of a crosswalk at rush hour or a dark and poorly lit road. One probably does not think of a winding road in a wooded neighborhood in the afternoon. And yet that is what happened. On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Saturday April 21, 2012

There is a saying among avid bikers that it is not "if" you will be in a motorcycle accident, but "when." Indeed, motorcycle accidents are not uncommon. According to the Center for Disease and Prevention Control, the highest death and injury rate for motorcyclists is among 20-29 year-olds, followed by 40-54 year-olds. What may be surprising is the month in which most fatal motorcycle accidents occur.
