News: Hit-and-run driver fatally strikes man in Charlestown

BOSTON, MA – A man crossing the Alford Street and Dexter Street junction lost his life after he was hit by a driver who then fled the scene Monday. 

This collision occurred after 3 a.m. along Mystic River in the Charlestown neighborhood, according to NBC Boston. Upon arrival, first responders declared the unidentified man dead at the scene. 

Police are investigating the specifics of this hit-and-run collision. They have not included a description of the suspect or vehicle but did speculate that the suspect drove away on Alford near Everett. 

Officials shut down Alford Street and Sullivan Square to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation process and reopened all lanes before 9:30 a.m.
