Hearing set in wrongful death of Massachusetts woman

Typical Massachusetts teenagers should have a myriad of opportunities available to them. They are young and just starting to make their mark on the world. That bright future can change in an instant, however, if an automobile accident causes the wrongful death of another person.

A 19-year-old Massachusetts man could face charges for his alleged role in the death of a 65-year-old woman. The man’s arraignment is set to proceed after a magistrate’s hearing, which is scheduled for late February. If it is then determined that there is sufficient cause to proceed, the man’s current citation will instead become a criminal complaint.

According to reports, the man was allegedly driving when his vehicle traveled across the center line. He ran into an oncoming vehicle head-on. The driver of that car suffered multiple injuries. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died.

The man suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured leg and ankle, which required treatment in a local hospital for a lengthy period of time. His brother, who was a passenger in the car at the time of the accident, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. He was released after receiving stitches.

The man could find himself in criminal court if officials decide the evidence against him warrants official charges. He could also face civil action if the family of the woman who died files a wrongful death lawsuit. The action would not reverse what happened to their loved one, but it could provide the help they need to move forward in the aftermath of her death.
