But late last year, Auburn was the site of a violent collision that resulted in severe injuries to a 45-year-old man out on an early-morning bread delivery route. The 45-year-old later died of his injuries sustained in the November 11 car crash on Interstate 290. A northbound Massachusetts interstate highway was shut down after two separate car accidents left four people injured this past weekend. The accidents about 90 miles west of Boston on I-91 in Longmeadow began when a vehicle struck a guardrail early Sunday morning. A recent ceremony at the State House honored Massachusetts workers who were killed by workplace injuries. The Workers Memorial Day event honored the 32 Massachusetts workers who were victims of workplace diseases or injuries last year. "The people who are affected most are the family members," said the executive director of the Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health. A Massachusetts man was arrested earlier this week after police said the vehicle he was driving when he was involved in a car accident had been stolen earlier that day. After the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. this past Tuesday in Hudson, New Hampshire, firefighters had to extricate a 70-year-old Hudson woman from her vehicle. A Massachusetts woman and man were injured yesterday in a car accident about 40 miles north of Boston. Their injuries sustained in the Hudson, New Hampshire crash were described as non-life-threatening, law enforcement officials said. For anyone who has had to commute by car in and around Boston, the hazards of driving while fatigued are probably familiar. Drowsy drivers are a serious danger on our roads. According to a new study, they are the cause of a much larger number of motor vehicle accidents across the country than was previously understood. The Boston Globe reports that a former state trooper who pleaded guilty to causing a car crash that killed the wife of an Atlanta Braves trainer is to serve two years in prison, a judge ruled yesterday. The former Georgia trooper was also ordered to eight years of probation after his release from prison on the vehicular homicide charge. A suburban Boston man has been charged with driving under the influence after a fatal crash yesterday morning in Jaffrey, New Hampshire.
